Natural diamonds are pure carbon
crystals that are formed 100 miles or more deep
within the Earth's mantle where extreme pressure
and heat exist. The carbon that makes diamonds
comes from the melting of pre-existing rocks in the
Earth's upper mantle which are forced deeper
down by temperature changes in the upper mantle.
When pressure, chemistry and heat conditions are
right, then the carbon atoms in the melting crystal
rock bond together and as the temperature cools,
the result is the formation of diamond crystals.
Laboratory grown diamonds in the Solaura collection are formed
in the same way, under similar conditions to those found
underground. These conditions are produced by
specially built custom designed cultivators....more »
